Permalink fall is officially here! yesterday i had an amazing grilled cheese from the morris truck: raclette cheese, pulled pork & pickled watermelon radish on sourdough. inspired, i made another grilled cheese of my own today, a cheddar gruyere blend on quinoa bread. this is going to be a problem.
autumn is fully reflected in this week’s farmers market bounty. pictured is kale + brussels sprouts with a maple, lemon & whole grain mustard dressing. (thanks to this great book for the idea) purple kale is so pretty. i’ve got some fun plans for the squash, sweet potatoes and apples i bought as well. and of course, i’ve already whipped up a batch of pumpkin whoopie pies :)
it sounds like i’m eating well, so let me just bring it back to reality and confess that last night i was busy working, so dinner was cereal straight from the box, a half dozen cookies and some ice cream. i am a grown up.

Permalink Beet carpaccio salad at Hearty for Z’s bachelorette dinner. Nothing extraordinary, but lovely colours and plating.
The maple syrup & black pepper butter they served with their bread, however, now that was a winner. But really, you can’t go wrong with fancy butter.
Permalink I love picnics, but because they’re so weather-dependent, I haven’t had them as often as I’d like (especially with weather.com’s constant lies). Bri, Kristin & I had been plotting this for a few days - even though it was a beastly 90 degrees out today, we followed through!
So many favorite things pictured here:-nautical napkins/blanket-vino verde-blueberry crumb bars (i healthed up the recipe a little)-hummus & veggies-brownies-french baguetteUnpictured:-giant wedge of brie (of which i consumed too much)-adorable creepin’ squirrels
